Nominations for Offices 2024

The offices up for nomination for 2024 are:

  • Vice President Special Focus Ministries/YWR
  • Vice President of Human Care
  • Recording Secretary
  • Financial Secretary
  • Pastoral Counselor
  • Nomination Committee (3 to be elected)

Qualifications for Carolinas District Officers:

A.    Candidates may be selected from names submitted by societies or individual members.

B.    Candidates shall have had at least two (2) years of society experience, preferably having held an office, and be supportive of the LWML objective.

Offices for Nominations for the 2024 District Convention

 

Vice President of Special Focus Ministries 

This ministry provides support to young women and to women of all ethnicities, encouraging their participation in the district LWML and is composed of:

  • Young Women’s Coordinator (Director) correlating to the LWML Committee on Young Women, who intentionally identifies, encourages, and provides opportunities for young women to affirm their faith and develop their gifts in service to the Lord through the LWML; she also promotes the Young Woman Representative (YWR) program at the LWML level; and

  • Provides support to young women and to women of all ethnicities, encouraging their participation in the district LWML and Heart-to-Heart (H2H) Coordinator (Director), correlating to the LWML Heart-to- Heart Committee, who identifies, develops, supports, and encourages women leaders in ethnic ministries; she also identifies and coordinates cross-cultural opportunities within the district LWML, thus emphasizing the church’s rich diversity.

 

Vice President of Human Care

  • Perform the duties of the District LWML President at her request.

  • Prepare written reports as required for the BOD, the Convention Manual

  • Encourage and equip women to reach out in love.

  • Alert members to opportunities and challenges for mission services in the church, the community, and the world.

  • Encourage active participation, and provide materials and suggestions for

mission service programs.

Prepare a written report for each meeting of the District LWML Board of Directors.

  • Gifts from the Heart

    • Work with the event chairman at all District events to select recipient(s) of Gifts from the Heart and the items to be collected.

    • Provide information on the recipient and items to be collected to the Cross Connection editor for publicity.

    • Work with committee members, accept and, if necessary, sort gifts and pack them for pick-up by recipient agency.

  • Joy Event

    • Serve as Co-Chairman of the Joy Event at the request of the President.

    • Work with the Co-Chairman, President, and hosting congregation to plan the program.

    • Provide information on the program and registration to Cross Connection Editor for publication

    • Supervise the program throughout the day.

The Recording Secretary

  • Keep an accurate record of all meetings and conventions.

  • Provide each member of the Board of Directors with a copy of the minutes of all Board meetings within one (1) month of each meeting.

  • Provide each member of the Board of Directors and each society with a copy of the convention minutes within one (1) month of each convention.

  • Prepare and file in the minutes book a record of current standing rules, listing all motions of continuing action adopted at the convention.

  • Provide the LWML President and LWML Archivist-Historian with the requested number of copies of minutes of all meetings of the District LWML Board of Directors and copies of minutes and a manual of all conventions.

  • Prepare a written report for each meeting of the District LWML Board of Directors.

  • Prepare a written report to be included in the convention manual.

  • Perform other duties at the request of the District LWML President and /or Board.

The Financial Secretary

  • Receive all monies of the District LWML and deposit them in a financial institution(s) authorized by the Board of Directors.

  • Keep an Accurate account of all receipts and deposits and send a monthly report of these to the District LWML Treasurer and to the District LWML President.

  • Prepare a financial report for all meetings of the District LWML Board of Directors.

  • Submit books for financial review at the close of the biennium, with a change of office, and at the request of the Board of Directors.

  • Submit yearly bills to each society for District and LWML publications and other obligations.

  • Be bonded at the expense of the District LWML.

  • Prepare a written report for each meeting of the District LWML Board of Directors.

  • Prepare a written report to be included in the convention manual.

  • Perform other duties at the request of the District LWML President and /or Board.

Pastoral Counselor

  • Serve the District LWML in an advisory capacity.

  • Attend as a non-voting member all conventions and meetings of the Board of Directors at the expense of the District LWML.

  • Be aware that one (1) Pastoral Counselor attends each LWML convention, at the expense of the District LWML.

  • Perform other duties at the request of the District LWML President and /or Board.

  • The Jr. Pastoral Counselor will become the Senior Pastoral Counselor after serving as the Jr. Pastoral Counselor.

 

The Nominating Committee

The purpose of the Nominating Committee is to select candidates who will provide the best leadership for the group. Unless the bylaws specify differently, the Nominating Committee should make every effort to secure as many qualified candidates for each office as possible. This allows the voting delegates the opportunity to select their leadership for the next administration from a slate of capable individuals for each office, those who will serve the organization well.

 

  • A Nominating Committee of three (3) members shall be elected at each convention. Plurality shall elect. The person receiving the highest number of votes shall serve as chairman.

  • The nominating Committee shall submit at least one (1) name for each elective office, having first obtained written consent of the candidate to serve if elected.

  • The report of the Nominating Committee shall be submitted to each society at least ninety (90) days prior to convention.

  • Further nominations may be made on the convention floor, provided the nominee meets all qualifications for office and has given written consent to serve if elected.
