Central Zone Update
The LWML Central Zone Rally was held on Sat. – Apr. 26, 2025 at Grace Lutheran Church in
Greensboro, NC. The theme was “Bring Back the Springtime with New Beginnings.”
The ladies of Grace Lutheran - Greensboro LWML hosted the Central Zone Rally. The Zone
Rally started with registration and a continental breakfast. The total attendance at the Rally was a
40 ladies from the Central Zone. A humorous monologue was given by Monica W. Young and
Carla D. Jackson to begin our time together. The Welcome was given by the Grace LWML
President Carla Jackson. The Rally opening hymn, Lutheran Women One and All was sung by
all with Olive Jenkins accompanying on the keyboard. A prayerful blessing was given by Pastor
McDaniel. The LWML Pledge was a responsive reading led by Phyllis H. Martin and everyone
enjoyed the reading. Jackie Woods gave an introduced our Bible Study leader, the vacancy
pastor of Grace Lutheran, Pastor Warren Lattimore. Everyone enjoyed a special musical
selection sung by Elizabeth Jones, Vice-President Grace Lutheran titled “Bring Back the
Springtime.” After the Bible Study, a hymn titled “Serve the Lord with Gladness” was sung by
all.
The LWML Central Zone Rally participants were asked to bring paper products for the Gifts of
the Heart project. The participants provided 915 paper items, which included paper towels
bathroom tissue, plates, bowls, cutlery, cups, tissues, disinfectant spray and wipes. Pastoral
Counselor, Pastor John Scheuermann Jr. of Ebenezer Lutheran - Greensboro blessed and
dedicated these Gifts of the Heart. The Gifts to the Heart were then given to the Shirley T. Frye
YWCA in Greensboro NC.
A box lunch was provided by Jay’s Deli of the Friendly Shopping Center in Greensboro.
Following lunch, the Central Zone business meeting was called to order by the Central Zone
President, Mary Ann Boone. The business meeting included the review and voted approval of the
Central Zone Bylaws. Prior to our Zone Rally, a Bylaws Committee including Lenora Campbell,
Janis McDaniels and Mary Ann Boone, worked together to update the Bylaws, as they hadn’t
been updated since 2004. The updated Bylaws were shared with all church group leaders of our
Central Zone prior to the April Zone Rally so that all would be familiar with the updated
document.
Also prior to our Zone Rally, a Nominating Committee including Pat Eckerd and Debra Donnell
sought out nominees for the offices of Vice President and Secretary. The nominees were
presented and were voted into office. The new Central Zone Vice President is Lenora Campbell,
and the new Secretary is Cheryl Wulfert. Pastor Lattimore installed these two new officers, who
will serve during the next four years.
Following the business meeting, Vacancy Pastor of Grace Lutheran, Warren Lattimore blessed
us with a closing prayer and our Central Zone Rally was concluded with a dismissal given by
Grace Lutheran LWML President, Carla Jackson, who wished upon all a safe travel home. A
closing hymn, “Pass it On” was sung by all. It was a beautiful time of LWML fellowship.
