Nominations for 2026 LWML Carolinas District Convention

According to the LWML Carolinas District Bylaws, these are the general duties for each office that is up for election at the 2026 District Convention. Please prayerfully consider whether you are a fit for any of these positions or if you know someone you would like to nominate. Please complete the nomination form! Officers serve a four-year term, with the exception of nominating committee members, who serve a two-year term.

President

The President shall:

  1. preside at the District LWML convention and all meetings of the Board of Directors;
  2. appoint standing committees, appointed officers, and special committees and personnel, with approval of the District LWML Board of Directors;
  3. be an ex officio member of all committees, except the Nominating Committee;
  4. sign vouchers, contracts, and other documents;
  5. present a written report for each meeting of the District Board of Directors;
  6. present a written report for the convention body, including activities of the District Board of Directors, which shall be included in the convention manual;
  7. be responsible for the execution of resolutions passed by the convention body and the Board of Directors;
  8. attend all LWML Presidents' Assembly meetings and conventions with voice and vote;
  9. be an authorized signer on checks in the absence of the Treasurer;
  10. be bonded at the expense of the District LWML;
  11. Represent the District LWML at zone rallies and other events or appoint a substitute.

Vice President for Mission Outreach

The Vice President for Mission Outreach may perform all duties of the District LWML President in her absence, or at her request and shall:

  1. serve as President for the unexpired term, should a vacancy occur in the office of President;
  2. serve as chairman of the Mission Outreach Committee;
  3. be chairman of the Mite Box program;
  4. prepare a written report for each meeting of the District LWML Board of Directors;
  5. receive and compile all resolutions and grant proposals for approval by the Board of Directors and voting delegation of the District LWML convention;
  6. submit the proposed resolutions and grant proposals to all groups at least ninety (90) days before convention for their consideration;
  7. prepare a written report to be included in the convention manual;

Vice President for Christian Life

The Vice President for Christian Life may perform the duties of the District LWML President at her request, and shall:

  1. serve as chairman of the Christian Life Committee;
  2. prepare a written report for each meeting of the District LWML Board of Directors;
  3. prepare a written report to be included in the convention manual;
  4. perform other duties at the request of the District LWML President and/or Board.
  5. perform other duties at the request of the District LWML President and/or Board.

Treasurer

The Treasurer shall:

  1. make disbursements upon authorization of the District LWML President;
  2. remit at least twenty-five percent (25%) of mites to LWML monthly;
  3. prepare a report of all disbursements for each member of the Board of Directors for all Board meetings;
  4. prepare a written report to the District LWML President monthly, or at her request;
  5. submit books for financial review at the close of the biennium, with a change of office, and at the request of the Board of Directors;
  6. be bonded at the expense of the District LWML;
  7. prepare a written report to be included in the convention manual;
  8. perform other duties at the request of the District LWML President and/or the Board.

Duties of Pastoral Counselors

The Pastoral Counselors shall:

  1. serve the District LWML in an advisory capacity;
  2. attend as non-voting members, all conventions and meetings of the Board of Directors at the expense of the District LWML;
  3. Be aware that one (1) Pastoral Counselor attends each LWML convention, at the expense of the District LWML;
  4. perform other duties at the request of the District LWML President and/or the Board of Directors.

Nominating Committee (2-year term)

  1. A Nominating Committee of three (3) members shall be elected at each convention. Plurality shall elect. The person receiving the highest number of votes shall serve as chairman.
  2. The Nominating Committee shall submit at least one (1) name for each elective office, having first obtained written consent of the candidate to serve if elected.
  3. The report of the Nominating Committee shall be submitted to each group at least ninety (90) days prior to convention.
  4.  Further nominations may be made on the convention floor, provided the nominee meets all qualifications for office and has given written consent to serve if elected.
  5. The Nominating Committee shall be forever independent of the Board of Directors.
